Variation in faecal digestibility values related to feed efficiency traits of grower-finisher pigs

چکیده

Providing pigs a diet that matches their nutrient requirements involves optimizing the based on digestibility values of considered feed ingredients. Feeding same quantity to with similar BW but different requirements, however, can result in average daily gain (ADG) and backfat thickness (BF) between pigs. Digestibility may contribute this variation efficiency. We investigated efficiency traits grower-finisher associated faecal values, independent intake at time measuring digestibility. Considered were ADG, (ADFI), conversion ratio (FCR), BF residual (RFI). Feed intake, BW, data one hundred sixty three-way crossbreed (eighty female eighty male) collected during two phases, from day 0 experiment (mean 23 kg) till 56 70 slaughter 121 kg). Pigs either fed corn/soybean meal or more fibrous wheat/barley/by-products, titanium dioxide as indigestible marker. Faecal samples five before used determine apparent DM, ash, organic matter (OM), CP, crude fat (CFat), fibre (CF), calculate nonstarch polysaccharides (NSPs) energy (E). The effects diet, sex covariate sampling (FIs) estimated significant for all except CFat. each individual pig determined slaughter, corrected FIs, estimate association ADFI, FCR, BF, RFI. In first phase, percent unit increase OM, E, CFat, CF, NSP, Ash individually was related 0.01–0.03 reduction FCR 6–23 g/day A CP 0.1 mm 10 ADG. second decrease 16–20 conclusion, relationship is across developmental stages pig.

Remixing Lightweight Pigs in the Grower-finisher

A recent study has shown that sorting and regrouping lightweight pigs with pigs of similar size does not improve their growth performance and carcass characteristics. M. C. Brumm and coworkers (2002) hypothesized that managing variation in the nursery and grower-finisher by sorting and regrouping lightweight pigs might improve their performance. Five experiment stations (in Illinois, Iowa, Mich...

Association of RYR1 and MYOG Genotype with Carcass and Meat Quality Traits in Grower-finisher Pigs

The study involved 110 hybrid grower-finisher pigs from Polish Large White × Polish Landrace sows sired by Pietrain breed boars and their crossbreds with the 990 line and Duroc. The aim of the study was to determine an association of the polymorphism of RYR1, myogenin (MYOG) genes and carcass meatiness level with carcass slaughter value and meat quality traits in hybrid pigs. Better meat qualit...

Compensatory growth and nitrogen balance in grower-finisher pigs.

Sixteen castrated male pigs (averaging 21.2 +/- 4.9 kg) were used in two trials to investigate the effect of dietary amino acid content during the grower phase on growth performance and N balance. In each trial, pigs were assigned randomly to corn-soybean meal grower diets formulated to contain 5.0 or 11.0 g lysine/kg (as-fed basis). Common Finisher 1 and 2 diets were offered when pigs reached ...

Effect of a novel phytase on growth performance, bone ash, and mineral digestibility in nursery and grower-finisher pigs.

To compare the effectiveness of 2 phytase enzymes (Phyzyme and Natuphos), growth performance, fibula ash, and Ca and P digestibilities were evaluated in 4 studies. The first 3 studies used 832 pigs (i.e., 288 in the nursery phase, initial BW 8.1 kg; 288 in the grower phase, initial BW 24.2 kg; and 256 in the finisher phase, initial BW 57.8 kg) and were carried out over periods of 28, 42, and 60...

In vitro digestibility techniques to predict apparent total tract energy digestibility of wheat in grower pigs.

In vitro digestibility techniques have been developed to predict the apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD) of energy and DE content of mixed diets and feedstuffs including barley grain in swine. However, the techniques have not been tested properly for their accuracy in predicting the variation in ATTD of energy and DE content within wheat grain. The objectives were 1) to compare two 3-step...
